You can explore the club and reading guide at any time. Check the group’s current reading plan so you know which chapters may come up in conversation.
What is the difference between a book club and a reading group?
A book club brings readers together around an interest or theme. Its smaller reading groups have their own hosts, schedules and available places.
How do I know my place is confirmed?
Your account shows the status of your application and group requests. A requested place is not an approved place; wait for an active status before treating it as confirmed.
Are meetings online or in person?
Each group lists its meeting format and schedule. Contact the team to confirm the arrangements before travelling or making plans.
What does membership cost?
UGX 30,000 initially, then UGX 5,000 monthly. The initial amount includes the one-time UGX 25,000 joining fee and first UGX 5,000 month. Apply first; staff arrange payment. A member tag and bookmark are included. Clothing and totes are optional extras.
Do I need to link my Uganda Bookshop account?
No. Linking is optional. It lets you bring approved Uganda Bookshop reviews into your Marafiki account. You can manage or disconnect the link in your account.
Can I host a reading group?
Choose the host option in the membership application and tell the team why you would like to host. Hosting is subject to review and approval.
How do I change my details or password?
Use Profile and Security in your member dashboard. If you cannot sign in, use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page.
