Agreement

By using the Marafiki Book Club website or participating in circles and events, you agree to these terms. The programme is operated by Uganda Bookshop unless otherwise stated by the operator.

Membership

UGX 30,000 initially, then UGX 5,000 monthly. The initial amount includes the one-time UGX 25,000 joining fee and the first monthly payment of UGX 5,000. Applications do not collect payment; the team provides payment instructions after review. A member tag and bookmark are included. T-shirts, hoodies and totes are optional paid extras; prices and availability are confirmed separately.

Applications are subject to review. The operator may approve, defer, or decline membership to preserve community safety and capacity. Host-tier applications require separate confirmation.

Community conduct

Participants are expected to respect fellow readers, facilitators, and venue staff. Harassment, hate speech, or disruptive behaviour may result in removal from events or membership.

Content you submit

Reflections and notes may be moderated before publication. By submitting content you grant Uganda Bookshop a non-exclusive licence to display it on Marafiki channels with attribution.

Events & RSVPs

Event details may change; RSVP confirmation does not guarantee admission if capacity limits apply. Arrive on time and follow venue rules.

Liability

The site and events are provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, Uganda Bookshop is not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the site or participation in reading activities.
